Quilt Projects of Cape Cod, Part 2

It was a very busy quilting weekend. I wanted to just bring my Bali BedRunner project, but Joannie insisted that I pack some extra projects. She said that I would get bored and wander off to go shopping. Sensing that she was probably right, I packed a few extras...

I spent my day on Friday putting three borders on Eleanor's Christmas present. Joannie and Pat would have finished this in an hour, but it took me all day. Note to self: Before you promise your friend a bed quilt, you should ask what size bed she has... Eleanor has a king size bed!

This quilt measures 102" x 110". It took three of us to hold it for the photo.
I think that purple, blue, and green are my favorite colors for quilts. This was a kit that I purchased from Starr Design Fabrics at the Houston Quilt Festival back in 2004. Starr Designs doesn't offer this kit anymore, but they have lots of other beautiful things. Once I finished the center of the quilt, I went back and ordered some additional fabric from them to make the borders. The pattern is Trip Around the World. The fabrics are hand-dyed batik. Until I got inspired to give it to Eleanor for Christmas, this was my "extra" quilting project that lived in the trunk of my car for the past couple of years. My new quilt project in the car trunk is the quilt I was originally making for Eleanor for Christmas, until I showed her this one in progress. At least I know she likes it!

My husband and I have been diligently working on cleaning out our basement. I resuscitated a couple of old quilt projects and brought them to the quilt weekend.

I think this will be a large table topper.
The Star in a Star quilt above was started in 2000. We had a surprise 100th birthday party at the long departed Quilted or Not for Rochelle and Sally. Rochelle was turning 40 and Sally was turning 60 and their birthdays were a week apart. We all made this quilt. It is supposed to have nine patches all the way around, but I didn't like the look of it as a square, so I took the side borders off. The center was assembled when this project resurfaced in the basement, all I had to do was add the 9-patches (also already made) and add the side borders.

I took the extra 9-patch blocks and some extra fabric and started a baby quilt. It still needs borders. These projects may end up for sale in our Etsy Shop.
The colors are very sweet: lavender and green.
The print fabric looks like Tiffany stained glass.
I spent Saturday and Sunday working on my Bali BedRunner, but I'll save those photos for another post. Here are some of the other girls and their projects.

Despite her earlier mishap, with the multiple arms, Sally
successfully managed to finish her bathrobe. Shown here,
modeled by Cordula, it is a birthday gift for Sally's Aunt Meg,
who will turn 102 on November 13th. Happy Birthday Aunt Meg!
Pat finished two baby quilts (quilted and bound) for her darling grandson Matthew, a quilt top for her new nephew Colton, another quilt top for her niece, and a diaper bag (a special favor for daughter AnnMarie). All in a day's work for Pat. She is a super fast sewer!
Dr. Seuss fabric in chevrons!

This was a panel, but Pat added the cute borders.

Here is Terri showing off Pat's golf-themed baby quilt.

Sadly, this quilt doesn't photograph well, but it is lovely in person.
It is a low volume quilt made entirely of grey fabrics.
I was Pat's personal fabric shopper for this project.
Pat models her latest diaper bag creation in pink and grey chevrons.

Pat was working on this gorgeous duffel bag when
we left on Sunday. It was almost finished, just
needed the side panels.
I took over 150 photos this weekend, so more posts to come! Lots more gorgeous quilt projects to see!

Linking up on Friday to Confessions of a Fabric Addict, Link a Finish Friday, NTT at My Quilt Infatuation, and CrazyMom Quilts. To see more of our Cape Cod adventures, you can also read Part 1 and Part 3. I'm still documenting our saga, Part 4 (and possibly more!) to come soon.

Pugs and kisses,
Nancy

  6. My goodness, you ladies were rocking with all of your lovely projects! And what a sweet friend you are to Miss Eleanor. If she decides that quilt can't live at her house, it can come to Switzerland! :D Well done!
